Combilift Announces New $50 Million in Irish Plant

Combilift is hoping the “luck o’ the Irish” helps them strike gold when they build a new $50 million manufacturing facility in County Monaghan, Ireland. The facility is slated to open in 2017.

Combilift –which has its US headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina — is doubling down on its home-grown investment with the announcement of the new facility, which is expected to create 200 new jobs over the next five years.

The company’s CEO, Martin McVicar, was joined for the announcement at Combilift corporate headquarters by Irish Prime Minister Edna Kenny and other Irish government officials.

The company recently bought 100 acres of land in Greenfield, Ireland, to house the 430,000 square foot facility, which will include a manufacturing plant, dedicated Research and Development building, and administrative offices.

McVicar hinted that it may not be the last time Combiflift expands its Irish facilities.

“With this Greenfield investment and sufficient land available on the new site for future expansion, Combilift is committed to continuing its organic growth in Monaghan, Ireland, for many years to come,” McVicar said.

The Irish prime minister lauded the company’s decision to build in Ireland.

“It is growing and dynamic Irish companies like Combilift which are driving a recovery across Ireland’s regions,” Kenny said. “Comblift’s new $50 million facility in Monaghan will  make a profound difference to the local economy and the national export economy.”
