Saia, one of the nation’s largest freight truck companies, just got bigger by purchasing Dallas-based LinkEx Inc. for $25 million.<\/p>\n
LinkEx, which was founded in 2002, is a diversified, asset-light third-party logistics firm that has about 50 employees and generated revenues of approximately $36 million in 2014. The company provides customers with a variety of services, including supply chain design, domestic and international transportation, warehousing, as well as final mile services.<\/p>\n
Saia president and CEO Rick O’Dell said the purchase was subject to meeting growth expectations.<\/p>\n
“The acquisition of LinkEx is a nice fit for Saia in our effort to grow our portfolio of services in the asset-light market,” O’Dell said in a news release<\/a>. “LinkEx brings longstanding customer relationships and a broad array of service offerings to the Saia platform.”<\/p>\n LinkEx’s employees are expected to be absorbed into Saia, according to O’Dell, who added that he initially met with LinkEx owners last summer and build a relationship with them throughout the fall and into the new year.<\/p>\n The purchase allows Saia to benefit from LinkEx’s broad array of service offerings, add scale, and increase its capacity to consider additional growth opportunities in the asset-light market.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Saia, one of the nation’s largest freight truck companies, just got bigger by purchasing Dallas-based LinkEx Inc. for $25 million.
