Essential Warehouse Supplies Safety Products
Warehouse Supplies are Essential for Industrial Setting

It goes without saying that all possible safety precautions must be taken in the warehouse. Among all the hundreds of warehouse supplies that a company will purchase, many of them will be safety products and the many others will have to comply with strict OSHA safety requirements.
LPG gas is indispensable in most industrial and warehouse settings. As long as it is stored and used wisely, it is safe, but because of the potential dangers inherent in LPG, it is imperative that it is stored safely. For outdoor storage, it must also be theft proof. Aluminum mesh cylinder lockers ensure safety and security. Inside the warehouse or factory, gas cylinders should be securely held in place against the wall using stationary cylinder holders.
Another way to store LPG gas cylinders and allow them to be moved easily and safely is to store them in specially designed cylinder forklift pallets. These pallets are designed to hold from four to eight cylinders and can be easily moved with forklifts. Made of double-welded steel and painted in bright orange enamel for high visibility, they hold the cylinders firmly in place yet allow for easy access from both sides of the pallet.
No matter how many precautions you take against the possibility of fire, fires can occur. It would be foolhardy, not to mention illegal, not to have highly visible, easily and quickly accessible fire extinguishers located in strategic positions throughout your warehouse. The best type of fire extinguishers are those that contain multi purpose monoammonium phosphate.
In most emergency situations, the power supply is cut before anything else. This poses a significant safety hazard. As a precautionary measure, emergency lights that recharge themselves and automatically turn on when the power supply cuts out, are a must. When placed near exits and in areas where they can illluminate exit corridors and potential danger spots, these inexpensive emergency lights can literally be life savers.
Emergency signs are also indispensable in the warehouse. These include exit signs, elevated signs that point alert staff to the fire extinguishers and other signs need to be highly visible both in well-illuminated areas and in pitch darkness. Self-activated and self-charging glow-in-the-dark signs can retain their illuminosity for up to eight hours, even in the absence of a light source.
Among the other essential safety warehouse supplies are a variety of wearing apparel. Hard hats, protective clothing, dust and particle face masks and protective gloves are just some of the items that must be available for use as needed.
While OSHA compliance is mandatory, many safety features on the better warehouse supplies actually exceed OSHA safety requirements. Aside from supplies that are designed strictly for safety, everything that can pose a danger must at least meet OSHA standards. The wire cage that protects the forklift operator is just one example of this.
When you add it all up, complying with OSHA standards and ensuring the utmost safety in the workplace is a big job. Fortunately, a good warehouse supplies company knows all the regulations and can help the warehouse manager or owner choose the right safety equipment and clothing for their work environment.
