Retail Industry Blames NY/NJ Port Officials for Problems

The Port of New York and New Jersey’s backlog of cargo is beginning to effect the retail industry’s ability to provide products to consumers, according to a letter sent by an retail industry official to the port’s executive leadership. Retail Industry Leaders Association Government Affairs VP Kelly Kolb said other problems at the ports include long lives outside terminals which cut into turn times, shortage of chassis, outdated technology, lack of drivers, and the current shortage of port and terminal workers.
